Today's ride started with a big climb. 1500m, from 600m in St. Martin up to Jaufenpass at 2100m. Not the highest point of the trip, but the toughest one to climb to. Almost continue uphill slope of about 7%.
Back down in the valleys I mostly followed dedicated cycling paths and routes. This made the progress slower, but the ride was much more enjoyable away from the car traffic. The last 30km from Bruneck (Brunico) to Toblach (Dobbiaco) were the most enjoyable with surprises at every turn: old railway tunnels, sections of gravel road, picturesque villages and the rugged summits of the Dolomites in the background.
